Fostering Indigenous Partnerships

At Rubellite, we are committed to fostering strong and mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities, especially those in close proximity to our field operations. By listening to community leadership and members, and acknowledging the deep connection that Indigenous peoples have with the land, we are dedicated to nurturing partnerships that respect the land and honor their unique heritage, traditional knowledge, cultural and historical rights.

We are committed to working safely together to create shared value while mitigating the impacts to First Nations and Metis communities and the environment, to ensure that our operations contribute positively to the lives and traditions of Indigenous people for future generations. We strive to work in partnership to enhance prosperity for members and communities alike.

Economic Development and Partnerships

Rubellite is committed to be part of bringing mutual benefit to and empowering Indigenous communities in the areas in which we operate, through economic development and capacity-building initiatives. We strive to create opportunities that foster prosperity and self-sufficiency. Our efforts include:

Employment and Training: We provide job opportunities and comprehensive training programs tailored to Indigenous peoples, helping build skills and advance careers within the energy sector.
Business Partnerships: We actively collaborate with Indigenous-owned businesses, offering support and opportunities to participate in our supply chain, thereby driving economic growth and mutual success.
Resource Development and Benefit Agreements: We strive to negotiate mutually-beneficial arrangements for resource development on Traditional, Settlement and First Nation lands.

Respecting the Land

Understanding the values, traditions and culture unique to each Indigenous community that we operate in teaches us the ‘how’ to respecting the land. As we observe, listen and learn from elders, community members, and leadership we can align our commitments, then embed positive practices into our operations based on their sacred knowledge of the land.

Traditional Knowledge Integration: We fund studies and incorporate Indigenous traditional knowledge into our land use, activity planning and environmental stewardship efforts, recognizing its value in protecting and sustaining natural resources.
Sustainable Land Management: Honoring Traditional Land Use studies and tapping local knowledge from generations of living off the land – hunting and gathering, we incorporate the community knowledge to employ responsible land management practices that minimize our environmental footprint and promote the health of ecosystems.
Collaborative Environmental Monitoring: We work with Indigenous communities to monitor the environmental and traditional land use impacts of our operations, ensuring that our activities minimize negative impacts to the land, water, air and ecosystems.

Supporting Social Initiatives

Rubellite is dedicated to supporting social initiatives that enhance the quality of life and cultural vitality of Indigenous communities. Through partnerships with programs like Classroom Champions and by providing financial resources for community-driven events like the BLMS Pro Rodeo and Aboriginal Days, we aim to provide meaningful support to social initiatives focused on enhancing community prosperity.

Classroom Champions

Our partnership with Classroom Champions connects students in Indigenous communities with world-class athletes who mentor them on important life skills such as goal-setting, perseverance, and teamwork. This program helps inspire and empower the next generation of leaders, providing them with the tools and confidence to achieve their dreams. By bringing positive role models into the classroom, the program contributes to the educational and personal development of Indigenous youth.

Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement Pro Rodeo

Rubellite has been honored to be the presenting sponsor of the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement “Gateway to the North” Pro Rodeo. This annual event has become a significant cultural celebration that brings together community members to honor their heritage and traditions.
